Time to Renew TTPA Membership

It is that time of year for Membership Renewal. The annual cost for the family membership is $35 and the membership year starts over on Jan 1. (You can renew in Dec for 2023.)

Here are two easy ways to renew:

Renew online through PayPal on the TTPA web site under the How to Join tab.
Print out a membership form (found at Trinitytrailriders.org under the “how to join tab) and mail the form and your payment to:
Sharon Berryman
2 Woodview Ct
Lucas, TX 75002

Your TTPA membership includes:

TTPA Newsletter – Here’s where you get a recap of what’s going on with the trail. Our newsletter arrives in your inbox and lets you know about upcoming events. In addition to the newsletter, we have an active Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TrinityTrail/) and website (http://www.trinitytrailriders.org/)

Monthly trail rides – a great way to meet new riding buddies and to socialize with longtime friends. It is not required to ride to join in…many members come out to visit or enjoy chuck wagon meals that we often have as part of our rides. In addition to the trail rides, we host clinics and fun events for you and your horse.

CareFlite (www.careflite.org) TTPA members qualify for a discount in the Careflite membership fee. TTPA members will be provided a link to the Careflite application form (on the Careflite website) that provides a discounted Careflite membership fee of $25. This benefit is good both on and off the trail in the DFW metroplex. If an accident occurs, call 911 and ask specifically for CareFlite.

Almost every month we have work parties, normally scheduled on a Saturday, where we work on the trail to keep it maintained…anything from weed eating around the rest areas, trimming tree limbs to putting in new culverts across the ditches. Work days are important to maintain the trail in good condition. Work parties are strictly volunteer, but we encourage all members to participate when they can. When we are working on a Grant project at the trail, our volunteer hours are extra important as the hours count as money against the “matching funds” Grants that we have received.

Membership in a non-profit organization that allows you to give back and make the world a better place. Trinity Trail gives you a location where you can relax and enjoy nature – but that doesn’t happen by itself. Your membership strengthens the organization to ensure there will be a trail in the future. We appreciate your support and hope you will become more involved.

Thank you again for your membership support of the TTPA.

We look forward to riding and hiking with you on the trails!!

Rain is interfering with our plans, we’ll have the Chili at the Feb 24 ride instead. See you then if not sooner on the trail!

We’ll meet at noon at Brockdale for a chili lunch and Member’s meeting, then rideout.

When – noon, Saturday, Jan 27, 2018
Where – Brockdale Park trailhead
What to bring – chair to sit in, appetite, and Coggins for your horse(s)

Gather round, one and all! With any luck, the weather will cooperate and the trail will dry out. We’ll be doing several things on this day – a Tack Sale, a Members Meeting, a fine chili and cornbread lunch, and a rideout afterwards, going south from Brockdale.

When – Saturday, Jan 30, 2016. Tack Sale starts at 10am, lunch at noon, Members Meeting at 1pm and a rideout afterwards.
Where – Brockdale Park trailhead
What to bring – tack equipment you’d like to sell (with a portion of the proceeds donated to TTPA), a chair to sit in for lunch and the meeting

Tack sale contact – Kathy Grossman – 972-743-2500, let her know if you’ll be bringing something
Members Meeting agenda – Election of members to the Board, trail status update
Cooks – Sharon Berryman and Tim – 972-839-4375, let him know you’ll be coming so we can get a headcount for the food

With any luck, we’ll also have a qualified person in attendance to give a short lecture on saddle fitting and possibly pointers on fitting the saddle you just bought at the tack sale onto the horse you’ve brought for the rideout!

After the spring rains lifted the lake level to record heights, the following drought lowered the lake back down to normal levels. But while the lake was flooded, all sorts of debris and trash were washed up and left at the high water mark, and are now littering the trail and the woods and fields next to the trail.

TTPA will celebrate National Public Lands Day by cleaning up trash on and next to the trail that was left by the lake flooding this past spring. If you bring the energy and willingness, we’ll supply the trash bags and dumpster to haul it all away!

When – 9am, Saturday, Sept 26, 2015, we’ll work till noontime
Where – Meet at Brockdale Trailhead
What to bring – gloves, bug spray, water and energy

We’ll be meeting at Brockdale to have a member’s meeting and ride. This is an excellent chance to renew your membership, if you haven’t already, and to bring a friend who wants to join. We’ll be serving chili for lunch, so bring a chair for sitting and prepare to enjoy yourself.

As part of the member’s meeting, we’ll vote on nominations/renewals for the Board of Directors, and the Board will elect its Officers for 2015. We also hope to have a guest speaker on search and rescue tips.

When – Saturday, Jan 31, chili lunch at noon, meeting during and after lunch, rideout afterwards
Where – Brockdale Trailhead
What to bring – Checkbook for renewals or new members, chair for sitting, and Coggins for your horse if you are going to ride out afterwards

Welcome Donna Carmickle, TTPA’s New Membership Chair

The TTPA is blessed with wonderful volunteers who devote their time and energy to help maintain our wonderful trail. Without the volunteers there wouldn’t be a trail on which to ride or hike.

In December 2013 Lynda Parker stepped down from Membership Chair. The TTPA would like to thank Lynda Parker for her years of service, and we hope to see her on the trail.

TTPA reached out to Donna Carmickle to fill the position and Donna has agreed. Donna was officially voted into the position at the TTPA Board meeting on Jan 14th.

Donna and her husband Bill are long-time members of the TTPA and Donna has served in various positions on the Board in the past. They are avid trail riders and are active members of the community. The TTPA is excited about the energy Donna brings and her ideas on getting the membership more involved.

Please welcome Donna Carmickle as the new TTPA Membership Chair. The TTPA is lucky to have her.

TTPA Annual Holiday Dinner – December 13, 2013

UPDATE: Due to the winter storm, we moved the party to Dec 13. Please resubmit the RSVP form so we have an updated headcount for 13 December.

TTPA will be hosting our annual dinner and Christmas party on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 7pm. The party this year will be a catered buffet dinner at the Collin College Spring Creek Campus Conference Hall (2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway).

Please visit the RSVP page (2013 Annual Party RSVP) to let us know you are coming.

We’ll be recognizing volunteer contributions, Volunteer of the Year, and some other new Awards. We’ll also be auctioning off two of the legacy Trinity Trail hat pins, followed by our popular Gift Exchange.

We’ve decided on a catered dinner this year after last year’s disappointing service in a restaurant environment for our number of attendees. This year, we’ll have plenty of room in the Conference Hall and, with a buffet service, we won’t be relying on an overworked wait staff.

When – Friday, Dec 13, doors open at 630pm, buffet opens sometime after 7pm.
Where – Collin College Spring Creek Campus Conference Hall (2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway east of US 75 in Plano, TX)
Cost – $15/person, please expect to pay with cash or check at the door
Menu (served buffet style):

  • Prime rib
  • sliced turkey
  • mashed potatoes
  • green beans almondine
  • grilled veggie salad
  • garden salad
  • chocolate layer cake
  • coffee, tea, or water

Gift Exchange – Bring a gift if you wish to participate ($15-$20 price range), or sit back and enjoy the festivities

Please visit the RSVP page (2013 Annual Party RSVP) to let us know you are coming.

The “B” in the below map marks the specific location of the Conference Hall.
